Video game festival at Town Mall in Westminster features retro arcade games, e sports discussion, chance to win Ravens tickets
The Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory, or MAGIC, is hosting a Good Game Fest on Sept. 24-26 at the Town Mall in Westminster featuring a free-play retro arcade, console tournaments, gaming industry conferences, game jams, board games workshops and more.
Partnering with MAGIC for the festival is Tables and Towers, Save Point and the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens and the Ravens Gaming League will provide special event prizes for tournaments and raffles, including tickets to a Ravens game and a chance to virtually game with a Ravens player later this season.
Attendants can also expect to see Ravens cheerleaders and mascot, Poe, who will attend the festival to greet fans.
“The purpose of Good Game Fest is to promote healthy gaming attitudes,” Graham Dodge, the Executive Director of MAGIC, said in a news release. “We want to highlight the different career paths that a passion for gaming can lead to in esports and the gaming industry.”
The festival will also feature a panel discussions with developers in the regional and global industry. Talks by coaches and players on esports teams from Springdale Preparatory School and Mount Saint Mary’s University. And it will feature tournaments on games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Rocket League, Fortnite and Mario Kart for cash and prizes.
Tournament registration is now open and is free with a ticket purchase, which can be bought at GGFest.org. Children under the age of 12 are free with a paying adult.
MAGIC is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Westminster with a stated mission to build a tech ecosystem that creates and nurtures talent, entrepreneurship, and tech businesses, elevating the Westminster gigabit community to lead the Mid-Atlantic region.
